LA28 Announces Next Olympic Ticket Sale Will Take Place in 2027

A press release sent out by the LA28 Organizing Committee on Friday morning indicated that more than 6 million tickets for the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles have been sold during the first two stages of the sales process. While that figure accounts for the majority of the inventory for the first Summer Games in the United States since 1996, LA28 confirmed that another sale will take place in 2027.

In its press release, the organizing committee indicated that a first-come, first-served sale will offer tickets to the general public at some point next year. Although the number of available tickets will vary by sport, the release note that tickets will be available “across every sport.” That said, the demand for tickets to high-profile events, such as swimming, will make them difficult to obtain, and the price for tickets will be high.

To date, LA28 has operated a pair of ticket-purchasing opportunities (Drop I/Drop II), with interested fans assigned buying windows through a lottery system. These stages featured ticket maximums, which will be lifted during the 2027 buying opportunity.

“The demand we’ve seen across both drops is a powerful signal that the world is energized for LA28,” said LA28 Chairperson and President, Casey Wasserman. “We’re grateful to every fan who participated, and we’re just getting started—2027 will bring more inventory, more access and more ways to be part of the greatest sporting event the world has seen.”

A Paralympic Ticket Drop will also take place in 2027, and a verified resale program will launch next year.
