Georgia Gets First 2028 Verbal Pledge From Junior National Finalist Coyle Moore
NEW COMMIT: The University of Georgia has secured its first public verbal commitment for Fall 2028 from Coyle Moore of Virginia Beach, Va. Moore is a Junior National qualifier who excels in freestyle.
Moore will arrive in Athens as a member of the Bulldogs’ Class of 2032.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I’m beyond excited and honored to announce my verbal commitment to the University of Georgia. I want to thank my family, friends, and teammates for helping me reach this dream. I would also like to thank my coaches Richard and Danny for the guidance they provided me. And a special thanks to Coach Neil, Coach Mike, and Coach Nate for this amazing opportunity. GO DAWGS!!”
A versatile freestyle, Moore trains year-round with Tide Swimming and most recently competed at Junior Nationals in August where he placed fifth in the 200m free and 15th in the 100m free. He produced four top-4 finishes at Virginia Long Course Seniors in July, highlighted by a pair of runner-up finishes in the 200m free and 400m free.
During the short course season, Moore competed at Juniors East before going on to win the 100 free and 200 free at Virginia Short Course Seniors. He was also named to the 2025 Zone Select Team.
His best times include:
- 50 free – 20.50
- 100 free – 44.65
- 200 free – 1:36.32
- 500 free – 4:25.85
- 1000 free – 9:21.76
Currently a junior at Kempsville High School, Moore earned silver in both the 100 free and 200 free at the 2026 Virginia Class 5 State Championships. He collected silver and bronze, respectively, in those events at the state meet during his freshman year in 2025.
Georgia finished fourth at the 2026 Southeastern Conference Championships and 15th at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
