USA Swimming Announces Dates for 2028 Olympic Trials in Indianapolis
USA Swimming, the National Governing Body of the sport of swimming in the United States, today announced the 2028 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming will take place June 9-17, 2028, at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis.
The nine-day competition will determine the pool swimmers who will represent Team USA at the Olympic Games in Los Angeles 2028 and marks the second consecutive U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming held at Lucas Oil Stadium.
The event will begin Friday, June 9, and conclude Saturday, June 17, shifting the competition schedule from the Saturday-through-Sunday format used in 2024.
The 2024 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming, presented by Lilly, marked the first time the event was held in an NFL stadium, transforming Lucas Oil Stadium into a world-class swimming venue. More than 285,000 fans attended nine days of competition, setting new attendance records for the sport and generating more than $132 million in economic impact for Indianapolis.

The 2028 U.S. Olympic Team Trials – Swimming will feature several updates to both the competition and fan experience.
The competition program will expand to include additional 50-meter stroke events contested at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic Games. USA Swimming will release the 2028 Trials qualification standards in mid-October, with additional details on the qualification period to follow.
Outside the competition pool, USA Swimming and its partners are building on the fan experience established in 2024. Toyota Aqua Zone and outdoor fan experiences along Georgia Street will return to Indianapolis, creating additional opportunities for fans to engage in the sport throughout the nine-day event.
The 2028 event will also feature expanded premium hospitality offerings and an increased focus on the overall fan experience, both inside Lucas Oil Stadium and throughout the surrounding Trials footprint.
USA Swimming will once again partner with Indiana Sports Corp to stage the event, building on the collaboration that delivered record-setting attendance.
