Breaststroker Ethan Zhou Verbally Commits to Penn Starting in 2028-29 Season
NEW COMMIT: Plano, Texas native Ethan Zhou has announced his verbal commitment* to the University of Pennsylvania for Fall 2028. Zhou is a Junior National qualifier who specializes in breaststroke.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“After thoughtful consideration, I am honored to announce my verbal commitment to the admissions process for the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania to continue my academic and athletic career! First, I want to express all my gratitude to my family, friends, and teammates who have continuously supported me throughout my career. I am also incredibly grateful for Coach Kim, Coach John, Coach Andrew, Coach Sue, and Coach Jay for guiding me and shaping me into the person I am today. Zhou does his club swimming with Metroplex Aquatics. He most recently placed 24th in the 200m breast at Junior Nationals. Last winter, he finished 11th in the 200 breast and 20th in the 100 breast at Juniors West before going on to take fourth in the 200 breast and fifth in the 50 breast at Justin Speedo Sectionals.
His best times include:
- 100 breast – 55.03
- 200 breast – 1:57.97
- 200 IM – 1:50.28
Zhou, who is homeschooled, is currently a junior in high school.
The Quakers finished eighth at the 2026 Ivy League Championships. Zhou’s best time in the 200 breast would’ve scored in the B-final at the conference meet, while his top 100 breast time would’ve placed in the C-final.
