Boston College Cracks Into 2028 Recruiting With Verbal From Backstroker Lulu Barnard

NEW COMMIT: Boston College has officially tapped into the Class of 2028, having received its first public verbal commitment from Lulu Barnard of Mountain Lakes, N.J. Barnard

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am so extremely blessed to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Boston College! First and most importantly I would like to thank Jesus for guiding my path and gifting me with incredible opportunities. I would like to give a special shout out to my Mom and Grandma for their endless prayers and support towards me. As well as my Dad for his constant guidance, support, and advice. A big thank you to the rest of my family, friends, and coaches at LHY for always believing in me and their constant support throughout my life. I would also like to give a special thank you to Coach Bruno and Coach Dara as well as the entire Boston College Staff for giving me this incredible opportunity! I’m so extremely excited for what the future holds! GO EAGLES!!”

Barnard does her club swimming with Lakeland Hills Family YMCA and most recently competed at YMCA Long Course Nationals where she won the B-final of the 50m back and 200m back while placing 11th in the 100m back. She took 10th in the 200 back and 11th in the 100 back at YMCA Short Course Nationals back in April.

Her best times include:

  • 50 back – 26.50
  • 100 back – 55.23
  • 200 back – 2:00.53
  • 50 free – 23.68
  • 100 free – 51.99

Currently a junior at Mountain Lakes High School, Barnard finished fourth in the 100 back at the 2026 New Jersey Meet of Champions.

Barnard is a huge pickup for the Eagles as her best times in the 100 back and 200 back would’ve ranked first on their roster last season.
