Tennessee Will Make College Swimming League Debut; Virginia Returns to Action
Following two weeks of competition and three matches featuring the other 11 teams in the league, the University of Tennessee will make its College Swimming League debut this weekend. The Volunteers will be on their home deck when they welcome Virginia, Louisville and Michigan to the Allan Jones Aquatic Center in Knoxville. The meet is scheduled for Friday night, starting at 6:30 p.m.
While making its CSL debut, Tennessee will rely on a stacked lineup that boasts a mix of returning talent and promising youngsters. On the women’s side, Camille Spink and McKenzie Siroky return for the Vols, while freshman Charlotte Crush is a top addition. The men’s squad will be paced by Koby Bujak-Upton, the runnerup in the 200 freestyle at last year’s NCAA Championships, and transfer Julian Koch, who previously starred for Pittsburgh and will bring a major sprint spark.
Virginia (3-0) returns for its second match after dominating its opener with a 666-point output, the highest single-meet total during the early stages of CSL competition. The Cavaliers will once again turn to their sensational combination of top-end power and depth, with Claire Curzan, Sara Curtis and Anna Moesch leading the women’s team, and Maximus Williamson and Thomas Heilman pacing the men’s squad.
While Louisville will look for big performances from Anastasia Gorbenko and Nikita Sheremet, Michigan will turn to Bella Sims and Lorne Wigginton. Louisville is 2-1 after its first match while Michigan owns a 1-2 record.
