Junior National Finalist Michael Wang Sends 2028 Verbal to Princeton

NEW COMMIT: Princeton University has recorded a new verbal commitment* for the 2028-29 season and beyond from Michael Wang of Irvine, Calif. A Summer Nationals qualifier, Wang is among the top recruits in the class who specializes in sprint and mid-distance freestyle.

He will join Reis Joos in New Jersey as a member of the Tigers’ Class of 2032.

Regarding his commitment, he said simply:

“GO TIGERS!!!🐅🐅🐅”

Wang, who does his club swimming with Irvine Novaquatics, raced three events at Summer Nationals before going on to place 14th in the 100m free at Junior Nationals. Last winter, he competed at Juniors West before going on to take fourth in the 100 free and eighth in the 200 free at Oceanside Speedo Sectionals.

His best times include:

  • 50 free – 20.79
  • 100 free – 44.40
  • 200 free – 1:37.17
  • 500 free – 4:31.25
  • 100 fly – 49.11

Currently a junior at Northwood High School, Wang placed fourth in the 200 free and sixth in the 100 free at the 2026 CIF State Championships, also leading off the winning 4×100 free relay. He is a NISCA All-American.

Princeton won its second consecutive Ivy League Championship in 2026. Wang’s best 200 free time would’ve scored at the conference meet.
