The target and field archery disciplines have been confirmed for the World Games 2029 in Karlsruhe (Germany), which will take place from 19 to 29 July 2029.
Archery was already included in the sports programme in April, with the disciplines to be finalised at a later stage. The International World Games Association has now released the full programme, including target and field archery, across 36 sports and a total of 62 disciplines.
The competition is expected to build on the format used at the previous edition in Chengdu in 2025, with compound archers competing in target archery, while recurve and barebow archers will compete in field archery.
The seven medal events and 100 athlete quota places used in Chengdu are also expected to remain the same for Karlsruhe 2029, comprising six individual titles across the three divisions and a compound mixed team event. The final competition schedule, qualification system and medal events will be announced at a later stage.
The qualification period is scheduled to begin on 1 January 2027.
Archery has been part of The World Games since 1985, providing an important international stage for disciplines that are not included on the Olympic programme.
Around 4000 athletes from more than 100 countries are expected to compete in Karlsruhe across the 36-sport programme.
