Para Pan Pacific Championships Scheduled for the Weekend (Psych Sheets)
The Para Pan Pacific Championships will take place from August 28-30 at Mount San Antonio College in Walnut, California. The meet will feature some of the top Para swimmers in the world, including the United States’ Ali Truwit and Gia Pergolini. International stars scheduled to compete include Rowan Crothers and Tim Hodge of Australia and Canada’s Aurelie Rivard and Fernano Lu.
The United States’ Mallory Weggemann, who has won seven Paralympic medals, will race in three events. Weggemann will contest the 50 butterfly, 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. A six-time Paralympic medalist, Hodge will represents Australia in the 100 breaststroke, 200 IM and 100 butterfly. Hodge won two golds and a silver at the 2024 Paralympics in Paris.
A decade after starring at the 2016 Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brad Snyder will return to international competition. The eight-time Paralympic medalist is targeting a fourth Paralympics appearance at the 2028 Games in Los Angeles. Snyder is entered in the 100 breaststroke and 50 freestyle.
The meet will utilize a prelims-finals format, with the top-eight swimmers based on World Para Swimming (WPS) points advancing to the final. A nation can advance a maximum of three swimmers to the championship final, while consolation finals and exhibition finals will be conducted if enough athletes are entered in an event. All non-European swimmers are eligible to compete.
