Poolside Passport: Lani Pallister Loves Harry Potter; But Avocado Can Go Extinct
Much is rightfully made about the richness of Australian distance freestyle, the Land from Down Under regularly producing some of the greats in the sport. On the women’s side, Lani Pallister is Australia’s latest superstar, having blossomed from a youngster with vast potential to a world-record holder and gold medalist in international competition.
Over the summer, Pallister emerged as the star of the Commonwealth Games (Glasgow) and Pan Pacific Championships (Irvine). She collected six individual gold medals between the meets, and totaled 10 medals. The highlight of her summer was a victory over legend Katie Ledecky in the 800-meter freestyle at Pan Pacs, with Pallister ending the American’s 14-year unbeaten streak in the event at the international level.
Pallister recently participated in the Swimming World series, Poolside Passport. Get to know the Aussie sensation a bit outside of the pool.
