Doug Grooms Named CSCAA’s Richard E. Steadman Award for 2024
Doug Grooms, the former head coach of Missouri S&T Swimming, has been awarded the 2024 Richard E. Steadman Award by the CSCAA.
The honor from the College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America goes to “individuals who have made significant contributions to promoting happiness within the sport of swimming and diving.” It is voted on by members of the International Swimming Hall of Fame, the CSCAA Forum and the CSCAA.
Grooms spent 24 years as the head coach of the Miners, leading them to 13 top-10 national finishes, including the 2008 runner-up award. The Miners were third in 2009 and fourth in 2007. Grooms was a 13-time conference coach of the year, six times in the Great Lakes Valley Conference and seven times the coach of the year at the New South Intercollegiate Swimming Championships.
Grooms retired at the end of the 2022 season.

Grooms will be honored at the CSCAA College Swimming and Diving Awards on May 6 at the Hyatt Regency in Indianapolis. The list of Richard E. Steadman Award winners is available here.
