Alabama Scores 2028 Verbal From Junior National Finalist Owen Miklos
NEW COMMIT: The University of Alabama has kickstarted its Class of 2032 recruiting with a verbal commitment from Owen Miklos of Richmond, Va. Miklos is a Summer Nationals qualifier who excels in freestyl and butterfly.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my athletic and academic career at the University of Alabama! I want to thank my parents for everything they have done to get me to this point. I want to thank my coaches at NOVA for pushing me to be the best athlete I can be. Also a huge thank you to Coach Andy, Coach Margo, and all the coaches at @alabamaswimdive for giving me this opportunity!!! ROLL TIDE!”
Miklos trains year-round with NOVA of Virginia Aquatics and most recently competed at Junior Nationals where he finished seventh in the 1500m free and 15th in the 800m free. That was after he finaled in the 200m fly at USA Swimming Nationals.
Last winter, Miklos placed 11th in the 1000 free and 13th in the mile at Juniors East where he also finaled in the 200 fly and 500 free. He then won the mile at Virginia Short Course Seniors before going on to final in eight events at NCSA Spring Championships, highlighted by bronze in the 1000 free, fourth in the mile and fifth in the 500 free.
His best times include:
- 200 free – 1:39.40
- 500 free – 4:25.13
- 1000 free – 8:57.86
- 1650 free – 15:10.40
- 100 fly – 48.78
- 200 fly – 1:47.99
Currently a junior at Deep Run High School, Miklos earned silver in the 500 free and bronze in the 100 fly at the 2026 Virginia Class 5 State Championships.
Alabama placed sixth at the 2026 Southeastern Conference Championships.
