Minnesota Stuns Michigan, Secures Little Brown Jug For First Time Since 2014

Michigan entered Saturday’s Big Ten showdown against Minnesota as 5.5 favorites and looking to bounce back following a last-second loss to Iowa the previous weekend.

This is not at all what Wolverine fans were hoping to see.

The game was not as close as the scoreboard made it look. The Gophers held the Wolverines to just 18- yards of total offense and rolled to a 20-14 win over the Wolverines.

The Gophers’ defense was dominant from start to finish, holding Michigan QB Bryce Underwood to 101 yards through the air on 10-of21X passing. The former top-ranked recruit in the 2025 class also threw two interceptions on back-to-back possessions in the second half.

“They tackled really well, they got after it,” Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck told FOX Sports’ Jenny Taft following the game. “We trusted the defense to finish the game.”

This marked Fleck’s first win over Michigan as the head coach at Minnesota.

“They never stopped believing in anything,” Fleck added. “This team is resilient and there is pandemonium in Minneapolis.”

With the victory, the little brown jug is heading back to Minnesota following the program’s first home win over Michigan since 1977.

“Besides my marriage and my kids being born, this might be the best day of my life,” Flack said as the Killer’s Mr. Brightside glared over the loudspeakers at Huntington Bank Stadium.

What a day to be a Minnesota Golden Gopher.
