SEC Weekly Swimming, Diving Awards: Koski, Vincent, Franklin

The SEC has announced its swimming and diving weekly honors for the first week of the season.

SEC Men’s Swimmer of the Week: Tomas Koski, Georgia

Georgia’s Tomas Koski, a senior from Alpharetta, Ga., claimed a pair of podium finishes in the Bulldogs’ College Swimming League opener against No. 18 Alabama, No. 7 NC State, and No. 10 Virginia. In the 500 free, Koski earned Georgia’s lone win of the evening with an NCAA cut time of 4:12.85, setting a CSL record and establishing a new top time nationally. He also placed second in the 200 free (1:33.57) and anchored the Bulldogs’ 200 free relay (1:19.61/20.22).

SEC Men’s Diver of the Week: Max Spencer, South Carolina

South Carolina’s Max Spencer, a senior from Essex, England, swept the springboard events with a pair of NCAA qualifying standard scores in the win at UNC Wilmington. Against the Seahawks, Spencer captured the top spot on the 1-meter with a final score of 324.53 and on the 3-meter with a final score of 380.03.

SEC Men’s Freshman of the Week: Tai Pearson, Florida

Florida’s Tai Pearson, a freshman from Cape Town, South Africa, was a part of three podium finishes in the season-opening win over FAU. In his collegiate debut, Pearson won the 100 fly with a top time of 47.67 and was runner-up in the 200 fly with his time of 1:48.56. He also swam the leadoff leg of the third-place 400 free relay (3:00.37/45.10).

SEC Women’s Co-Swimmers of the Week: Cadence Vincent, Alabama and Delaney Franklin, South Carolina

Alabama’s Cadence Vincent, a senior from Buckhannon, W.Va., posted a trio of NCAA cut times to earn podium finishes in the College Swimming League meet against No. 12 Georgia, No. 9 NC State and No. 1 Virginia. Individually, Vincent finished second in the 50 free (21.63) and the 100 free (47.69), with both times ranking in the top 10 nationally. She also swam the leadoff leg of the 200 free relay that finished third (1:27.52/21.50).

South Carolina’s Delaney Franklin, a senior from Columbia, S.C., won three individual events in the season-opening victory at UNC Wilmington. Franklin touched the wall first in the 200 fly with a time of 2:00.03. She also set pool records at the David B. Allen Natatorium as she finished first in the 200 breaststroke (2:12.10) and the 200 IM (2:00.30).

SEC Women’s Diver of the Week: Kyleigh Kidd, South Carolina

South Carolina’s Kyleigh Kidd, a fifth-year from Southlake, Texas, earned podium finishes in both springboard events in the win at UNC Wilmington. Kidd took first place in the 3-meter with a score of 267.30 and placed second on the 1-meter with a score of 276.15.

SEC Women’s Freshman of the Week: Madeline Moreth, Florida

Florida’s Madeline Moreth, a freshman from Valparaiso, Ind., finished first in all three events during the season-opening win over Vanderbilt. Moreth swept the breaststroke events after recording top times of 1:01.91 in the 100 breast and 2:15.05 in the 200 breast. She also swam the breaststroke leg of the winning 200 medley relay (1:39.42/28.01).
