Ciara Schlosshan has retired weeks after she won medley relay silver for Team Scotland at a home Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

The fly specialist, who trained at the University of Edinburgh, shared her decision weeks after she reached the podium at Tollcross.

The 24-year-old swam the fly leg in the women’s medley relay prelims in July as Scotland went on to win silver behind Australia and ahead of South Africa. She also finished fifth in the final of the 100 fly.

Schlosshan also enjoyed success on the junior stage, winning consecutive 200 fly silvers at the 2017 and 2018 European juniors as well as medley relay bronze in the former.

She shared the news on social media, saying: “That’s a wrap!!! Grateful for such an enjoyable career and to have met so many incredible people along the way 😌😌”
