The New York Yankees have been eliminated from the MLB postseason following a 4-3 loss to the Tampa Bay Rays in Game 3 of the American League Division Series on Wednesday at Yankee Stadium, which completed the series sweep for the Rays.
The Yankees, with an ailing Aaron Judge on the injured list, failed to win a game against the Rays, who finished the regular season with an AL-best record of 98 wins and 64 losses. This is the second consecutive postseason that the Yankees have been eliminated in the ALDS.
Now the Rays, who limited the Yankees to just five runs in three games, will go on to face the winner of the ALDS between the Chicago White Sox and the Cleveland Guardians in the American League Championship Series. The White Sox lead that series 2-1 and head back to Chicago on Thursday.
This is the Rays’ first ALCS appearance since 2020, which is also the last time they beat the Yankees in the ALDS.
