Pivot launches its first road bike, the Pravia

Pivot is an unfamiliar name in the road bike world, but the US brand has been revered in mountain biking for 20 years, particularly for its original groundbreaking suspension designs that brought the DW-link to XC racing in 2007.

But how, you might legitimately ask, does that help “a WorldTour-inspired road bike engineered to deliver race-level speed, efficiency and handling in a position riders can sustain beyond the opening miles”?

Pivot’s founder and CEO, Chris Cocalis, has been in the bike game for a long time, literally building his engineering expertise at Titus, which he started in 1991. He built 5,000-plus custom frames for road and mountain bikers and developed the use of titanium and carbon. He was contracted by Trek to make LeMond’s team bikes more competitive. He later founded BH USA and led a “comprehensive redesign of its bike lineup, bringing his approach to frame development to the highest level of road racing”. At the time AG2R were sponsored by the Spanish brand and the team’s Rinaldo Nocentini spent eight days in yellow at the 2009 Tour de France.
