The comparison excludes the four para-swimming showcase races at the European meet. The European program also includes two additional mixed freestyle relays.
Record-Breaking Performances
The two championships have already produced six world-record swims across four events:
- Sara Curtis lowered the women’s 50-meter backstroke world record twice, first to 26.63 and then to 26.56.
- Johannes Liebmann set a men’s 1500-meter freestyle world record of 14:26.79.
- Kate Douglass broke the women’s 50-meter freestyle world record twice, swimming 23.49 before lowering it to 23.19.
- The United States mixed 4×100-meter medley relay established a world record of 3:36.70.
