Hoosiers Land 2028 In-State Verbal From Carmel Swim Club’s Josiah Collins
NEW COMMIT: Indiana University has received another verbal commitment for its growing Class of 2032, this time from in-state standout Josiah Collins of Carmel, Ind. Collins is a U.S. Open qualifier who excels in IM and breaststroke.
He will join Sawyer Wilson in Bloomington in Fall 2028.
Regarding his commitment, he said:
“I am humbled, grateful, and honored to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at Indiana University!! First and foremost, all glory to God! He has guided me through this process without fail and I am so grateful for it. I would like to thank my family and friends for their support through this process. I would also like to thank Coach Plumb, Coach Pfaff, and the entire staff at Carmel for believing in me and making my dreams reality. I would also like to thank Coaches Sutton, Clemons, and Close who have supported me through my journeys. Lastly, I would like to thank Coach Looze and the entire staff at IU for the opportunity to become the best person I can be! GO HOOSIERS!!”
Collins, who swims year-round with Carmel Swim Club, most recently competed at USA Swimming Nationals where he placed 22nd in the 200m breast. He finished 13th in the 200 breast and 16th in the 400 IM at Juniors East in December before going on to earn silver in the 200 breast at Indiana Seniors in March. He secured the bronze medal in the 200m breast at Indianapolis Speedo Sectionals in March, too.
His best times include:
- 200 IM – 1:47.77
- 400 IM – 3:53.29
- 100 breast – 54.94
- 200 breast – 1:57.94
Currently a junior at Homestead High School, Collins placed fourth in both the 100 breast and 200 IM at the 2026 Indiana State Championships while helping his 4×50 free relay earn gold and his 4×100 free relay earn silver. He finished ninth in the 100 fly and 10th in the 200 IM at the state meet as a freshman in 2025.
Wilson will join a Hoosier Swimming and Diving program that has won six national championships, 37 Big Ten team titles and 551 Big Ten individual titles in addition to producing 111 Olympians and 1,596 All-America honorees.
They won the Big Ten title in 2026 before going on to place third at the 2026 NCAA Championships.
