Hoosiers Add U.S. National Junior Teamer Salem Bahr to Class of 2032

NEW COMMIT: Indiana University has continued to put together an impressive recruiting class for Fall 2028, this time getting a verbal commitment from Salem Bahr of Nashville, Tenn. Bahr is a member of the 2026-27 U.S. National Junior Team in the 200 breast.

She will join Kinley Baber, Clare Herfel, Avery Daigle and Thea Bike in Bloomington as a member of the Hoosiers’ Class of 2032.

Regarding her commitment, she said:

“I am SO EXCITED to announce my verbal commitment to Indiana University!! First I’d like to thank my parents for always being there for me and the support they have given me throughout everything! Next, I want to thank my teammates and coaches for always being there and for everything they have taught me along the way! Finally, I want to thank the Indiana coaching staff for this amazing opportunity! I could not have done this without everyone’s support and belief in me! I am SO excited to see where God continues to guide me throughout my journey! GO HOOSIERS!!!!”

Bahr does her club swimming with Ensworth Aquatics and finished 19th in the 200m breast and 23rd in the 100m breast at USA Swimming Nationals this past summer.

Last winter, she placed fourth in the 200 breast and 14th in the 100 breast at Juniors East in December. Bahr then had a great showing at the Southeastern Championships in February, earning gold in the 100 breast, silver in the 200 breast and bronze in the 50 breast.

Her best times include:

  • 50 breast – 29.02
  • 100 breast – 1:00.69
  • 200 breast – 2:11.06
  • 200 IM – 2:02.57

Currently a junior at Ensworth High School, Bahr took second in the 100 breast and ninth in the 200 IM at the 2026 TISCA State Championships. The NISCA All-American also took second in the 100 breast as a freshman in 2025.

Indiana finished second at the 2026 Big Ten Championships and seventh at the 2026 NCAA Championships.

Bahr’s best time in the 100 breast would’ve ranked second on the Hoosiers’ roster last year while her top 200 breast time would’ve been third. She would’ve scored in the B-final of both events at the conference meet a season ago, too.
