Florida 1A State Champ Allison Kelly Hands 2028 Verbal to Virginia
NEW COMMIT: Jupiter, Fla. native Allison Kelly has given the University of Virginia a verbal commitment for Fall 2028. Kelly, who is among the top recruits in her class, is a Summer Nationals qualifier who excels in freestyle.
She will join Shelby Hutchinson in Charlottesville as a member of the Cavaliers’ Class of 2032.
Regarding her commitment, she said:
“I am so excited to announce my verbal commitment to continue my academic and athletic career at the University of Virginia! First, I would like to thank my parents and my brother for their continuous support and endless sacrifices throughout this journey. I would also like to thank Coach Peter, Jake, Alexis, Claire, and all of the coaches at Bolles who have believed in me every step of the way. Additionally, I would like to thank Jupiter Dragons and Coach K for sparking my love for the sport. A very special thank you to the Coach Todd and the entire UVA coaching staff for the opportunity to live out my dream. GO HOOS!!!”
Kelly, who does her club swimming with Bolles School Sharks, raced three events at Nationals last month and was a finalist in the 200m free at Junior Nationals in 2025. She competed at Juniors East in December before going on to secure five top-5 finishes at Florida Short Course Seniors in March where she won the 100 fly and 500 free.
Her best times include:
- 200 free – 1:45.80
- 100 free – 49.72
- 50 free – 23.61
- 500 free – 4:47.96
- 100 back – 55.76
- 200 back – 2:00.71
- 100 fly – 55.67
- 200 IM – 2:04.79
Currently a junior at Bolles School, Kelly earned silver in the 100 free and 200 free at the 2025 Florida 1A State Championships, also helping her 4×100 free relay win and leading her school to the state title. The NISCA All-American won the 200 free and was the 100 free runner-up at the state meet as a freshman in 2024, and was part of the winning 4×100 free relay.
The Cavaliers won their seventh straight Atlantic Coast Conference title and their sixth consecutive NCAA Championship crown in 2026.
Kelly’s best time in the 200 free is already fast enough to score in the C-final at the ACC Championships.
