CSCAA Division III Poll: Emory Women Jump to No. 1 in Shakeup
Emory jumped to No. 1 in the CSCAA Division III poll for October, with NYU falling to No. 3 in the rankings released on Friday.
Denison holds onto the No. 1 spot in the men’s poll from the September preseason poll.
Emory tallied 392 points on the women’s side, two more than the tally of Kenyon, which holds at No. 2 this month. NYU slid from first in the preseason poll to third with 363 points, just seven ahead of Denison. Williams and MIT are fifth and sixth, respectively, with Pomona-Pitzer up to eighth as the top 10 teams remain the same month to month.
Salisbury is the overall big riser, up from 18th to 13th. Colby slid three spots to 15th, and Amherst four spots to 20th.
On the men’s side, Denison’s 399 points is one shy of the maximum. It includes all 15 first-place votes. Emory rises from fourth to second at 373 points, five ahead of the University of Chicago, while NYU’s men slide from second to fourth. Kenyon, MIT and Carnegie Mellon retain their spots at five through seven, with Calvin making a huge leap from 13th to eighth. An even bigger jumper moves UC Santa Cruz from 21st to 10th.
In the other direction, Tufts plummeted from ninth to 16th this month. Amherst dropped five spots to 19th. RIT enters the poll at 21st.
