France‘s David Jackson took a third World 3D title in barebow men after defeating Spain‘s Cesar Vera Bringas in the final at Yankton 2026 World Archery 3D Championships.
The 34-year-old previously won at the championships in 2019 and 2022, the same year he became world field champion.
The barebow women‘s title also went to France, with Virginie Chevrier triumphing at her maiden world championships, defeating reigning European champion Rosemarie Leitner of Austria.
The compound competition was won by Slovenia‘s Tim Jevsnik, defeating multiply decorated field and 3D champion Nico Wiener of Austria. The reigning European champion, France‘s Aude Ama-Cormerais defeated Ingrid Ronacher, another Austrian former champion, for the women‘s title.
Jackson was also part of France‘s four man men‘s team who also took gold at the event yesterday. The wins pushed France to the top of the medal table for the event, ahead of Austria and Russia.
The traditional bow titles went to Denmark‘s Zibrandt Christensen and Germany‘s Judith Wenzl. The latter is the reigning European champion and Christensen takes his second title after a win in 2017.
The individual longbow competition was won by Russia‘s Mikhail Poddevalin and Austria‘s Johanna Pitschmann, the latter one of the older competitors in the field, winning a world title age 63.
Pitschmann’s victory was perhaps less of a surprise to an unsighted bow field notable for the higher average age of the competitors – in a discipline where experience and learned instinct counts for a great deal.
