Jimmy Feigen Set for Induction Into San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame
Two-time Olympian Jimmy Feigen will be inducted into the San Antonio Sports Hall of Fame this weekend, the ceremony scheduled for Saturday night. Feigen was one of the United States’ premier sprinters in the 2010s and first made his name known at Winston Churchill High School in San Antonio, before he moved on to mold an NCAA-championship career at the University of Texas.
As a high school athlete, Feigen won two gold medals and a silver medal in the 50-yard freestyle and a gold and silver in the 100 freestyle at the UIL 5A Championships. During his senior year, he broke national high school records in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, clocking respective times of 19.49 and 43.05. From there, Feigen went on to star for Texas, where he earned 24 All-American honors and was a three-time NCAA champion as a senior. During his final season with the Longhorns, Feigen was the NCAA titlist in the 50 freestyle, 100 freestyle and as a member of Texas’ 400 freestyle relay.
Feigen represented the United States at the 2012 Olympic Games in London and the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. He earned a silver medal in 2012 by swimming in the prelims of the 400 freestyle relay. Four years later, he collected a gold medal in the 400 freestyle relay for his prelims contribution. Feigen was also a member of Team USA at the World Championships.
