Brian Kelly and LSU football added a big piece to its offense late Tuesday night.
Former Oklahoma wide receiver Nic Anderson, the No. 5-ranked wide receiver in the transfer portal according to 247Sports, announced Tuesday that he has transferred within the Southeastern Conference to play for the Tigers.
The Tigers announced Anderson’s commitment on X (formerly Twitter).
Anderson comes to Baton Rouge after spending two seasons in Norman with the Sooners. According to 247Sports, Anderson took visits to LSU and Texas A&M while in the transfer portal, but the four-star recruit chose the Tigers.
He was originally ranked a four-star recruit and the No. 38-ranked wide receiver in the 2022 recruiting class according to 247Sports’ Composite rankings.
As noted by The Oklahoman, part of the USA TODAY Network, Anderson missed most of the 2024 season with an injury after a record-breaking freshman campaign. In his freshman season with the Sooners, Anderson set the program record for most touchdown receptions by a freshman at 10 — including the game-winning score in the Red River Rivalry vs. Texas.
In 13 games in 2023 for Oklahoma, six of which he earned starts in, Anderson finished with 38 receptions for 798 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns. Anderson joins an LSU offense that ranked ninth in the SEC in scoring (29.3 points per game) and fourth in total offense (431.9 yards per game).
He is the ninth playe Kelly and his staff have signed through the transfer portal cycle, according to 247Sports. He is the third wide receiver of their class alongside Kentucky’s Barion Brown and FSU’s Destyn Hill.
Nic Anderson 247Sports ranking
Anderson is a highly touted recruit pickup for Kelly and his staff, as 247Sports had the 6-foot-4 wide receiver listed as a four-star recruit and the No. 10 nationally ranked player in the transfer portal.
