Tatyana Muntyan’s experience shone through at the 2026 Caribbean Development Championship and Caribbean Championship in Providence, Guyana, over the weekend, as the Seoul 1988 Olympian claimed three gold medals.
The US Virgin Islands archer topped the recurve women’s qualification standings on Saturday with 556 points, finishing 128 points ahead of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines’ Karen Palmer. Her first-place finish earned her a bye into the second round.
Muntyan then defeated host nation favourite Julie-Ann Williams of Guyana and Palmer, both by 6-0, to take the individual title.
The 58-year-old’s victory was her second individual international medal of the year, following silver at the Pan American Youth and Masters Championships. She added two more golds in the women’s doubles events, partnering Goddess George, 18, whom she coaches, and Bruce Arnold, a 2022 Copa Merengue bronze medallist.
Muntyan and Arnold have now won three medals together representing the US Virgin Islands at the Pan American Masters, taking bronze in 2022, silver in 2024 and gold in 2026.
Beyond the senior events, the championships featured a wide range of competition, with 82 individual and team events across senior, beginner, para and developing archer categories. Participants ranged from under-11s to athletes aged 21 and over.
A total of 202 archers from 13 countries took part, alongside a 13-archer contingent from South Arrows Archery, a club based in Trinidad and Tobago.
