The Tennessee Lady Vols’ one-point loss to top-ranked South Carolina March 9 proved to be a benefit for coach Kellie Harper’s team as it earned a No. 6 seed to start the 2024 Women’s NCAA Tournament.
Tennessee (19-12) will face 11-seed Green Bay (27-6) Saturday on ESPN in Raleigh, North Carolina, as part of the Portland 4 regional.
Tennessee went into that game against South Carolina having won three of its previous four games and was 4-3 during the month of February. This is Harper’s fourth straight NCAA tournament appearance in five seasons as coach.

Tennessee is led by Rickea Jackson, who is averaging 19.4 points and eight rebounds despite missing eight games this season because of injury. She passed Lady Vols legend Tamika Catchings on the university’s career scoring list Feb. 29. Three days later, she dropped 29 points in a loss to South Carolina to move past Candace Parker on the scoring list.
