LAWRENCE — Kansas State’s basketball team is looking for something, anything, to turn its season around, and what better way to do that than knocking off rival Kansas at Allen Fieldhouse?
Trouble is, the Wildcats go into Saturday’s first leg of the 2025 Sunflower Showdown having dropped four straight games and 13 in a row on the road dating back to last January. Worse, they haven’t won in Lawrence since 2006.
K-State (7-9, 1-4 Big 12) will try to end that 18-game run of futility with a noon tipoff against the No. 10-ranked Jayhawks (12-4, 3-2) in front of a national television audience on CBS.

The Wildcats did show promise in their last outing, a 61-57 home loss to Texas Tech that was tied before they ended the game with a 5-minute, 50-second scoring drought. KU is coming off a lopsided 74-57 loss at No. 2 Iowa State on Wednesday but is 8-1 at home this season.
Forward David N’Guessan leads K-State with 12.6 points and 7.4 rebounds per game, while KU center Hunter Dickinson averages 15.2 points and a league-leading 10.4 rebounds.
