After finally snapping their five-game losing streak with a dominating 85-61 victory over Washington on Wednesday, Iowa women’s basketball (13-7, 3-6 Big Ten) remains out of the latest USA TODAY Sports Women’s College Basketball Coaches Poll.
While the Hawkeyes shot a remarkable 71.7% from the floor against the Huskies, Iowa still has an uphill climb as they try to battle back into the Big Ten conversation as the season progresses.
Iowa has two opportunities this coming week prior to the next update to the polls, starting with a Tuesday night matchup vs. Northwestern and a top-tier clash vs. USC on Feb. 2.
As for how the rest of the Big Ten faired in this week’s release, UCLA remains atop the rankings for a ninth consecutive week as the nation’s No. 1 team. Following the Bruins are No. 4 USC, No. 8 Ohio State, No. 14 Maryland, and No. 17 Michigan State.
Minnesota (16 points), Nebraska (15 points), and Michigan (5 points) make up the three Big Ten program receiving votes outside the top 25 in this week’s polling.
