North Carolina has secured another big name in the transfer portal apart of the first class under new head coach Bill Belichick. Most recently, the transfer commitments have been from defensive stars; however, on Saturday, a former three-star from Washington will make his way to Chapel Hill.
Wide receiver Jason Robinson committed and played his first season in college football with Washington last season. Robinson redshirted last season after not seeing any game action. However, he was awarded the team’s scout squad MVP at the Huskies sports banquet.
According to Greg Biggins from 247sports, Jason Robinson garnished high praise heading into college football last season as a freshman.
Robinson is arguably the best pure route runner in the state. He’s a prototype slot receiver who just knows how to get open. He’s quick off the line, can get in and out of his breaks and plays with a high understanding of how to set up a corner to get easy separation. Catches the ball well and will give you yards after contact. Could also be a threat in the return game on punts and kickoffs at the college level. Highly competitive kid who plays with a bit of a chip on his shoulder and will always give you max effort. Will need to continue to add some good weight and strength to his frame to fill out for the physicality of the college game but has the skill set to be a very good player at the next level.
Robinson will be a great fit for a UNC team that saw very little production out of any of their wide receivers last season. He should be able to come in and make an immediate impact for Bill Belichick and the future offensive coordinator.
