Trade Rumors And Frustration Cloud Over Rangers In Ugly Loss To Blues

by

The New York Rangers lost 5-2 to the St. Louis Blues as all of this outside noise continues to cloud over the franchise.

Prior to the start of the game a report came out from Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman stating that the Rangers have made it very clear they are interested in making moves and shaking up their roster, given their underwhelming play to start the season.

This was the storyline going into the night and the Rangers didn’t do much to change the narrative.

Throughout the entirety of the contest, the Rangers just looked completely out of sorts in every aspect of their game.

Between the struggles to break out of their own zone, careless defensive breakdowns and underwhelming offensive pressure, there was an uneasy feeling at Madison Square Garden caused by all of these problems.

The Rangers gave up a total of 43 shots and that’s not a winning formula. Giving up an over abundance of shots has been a common theme for the Rangers as of late and that issue is beginning to catch up to them.

The frustrations and emotions were quite prevalent postgame, unlike we’ve ever seen before this season.

“We need to be better, everyone needs to be better,” Peter Laviolette said with passion. “It’s not good enough what we are doing. We are playing to a level and a standard that’s not us. Not what we work to be, not what we want to be. We gotta get better, everybody’s got to be better.”

Everyone looking at the Rangers’ 12-7-1 record wouldn’t think much of it, but this team has high expectations for themselves and they simply haven’t lived up to them thus far.

“We have really high expectations in here and our goal is the ultimate goal,” Braden Schneider said. “We have a team that we think we can get it done and I think every guy thinks we can do that. I think that’s why it’s been so disappointing.”

The Rangers have now lost three games in a row with the team really reaching their lowest point.

There’s a lot of noise surrounding New York and it’s not going to go away until the Blueshirts figure out how to get out of this funk and transform into the team we all know they can ultimately be.
