Tom Izzo provides injury update on Jase Richardson

by

Michigan State guard Jase Richardson (11) dribbles against Bowling Green guard Javontae Campbell (2) during the second half at Breslin Center in East Lansing on Saturday, Nov. 16, 2024.

It appears Michigan State basketball will have star freshman Jase Richardson in the lineup when they next take the court.

Michigan State head coach Tom Izzo met with the media on Thursday and stated that Richardson was limited in practice but is expected to be ready to play when the Spartans play Colorado on Monday in the Maui Invitational. Richardson left Tuesday night’s win over Samford late in the game with an ankle injury.

Richardson is averaging 8.4 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game so far this season in a reserve role. He is a former four-star prospect and has been a pleasant surprise in how much of an impact he’s already having for Michigan State.

The Spartans will play three games in three days next week as part of the Maui Invitational. Michigan State opens up the tournament in a game against Colorado on Monday at 5 p.m. ET.
