Texas Tech women’s basketball lost its seventh consecutive game Saturday, matching its worst skid in the past four seasons.
Cincinnati used a dominant second quarter to complete the season sweep of Tech with a 68-56 decision in the Big 12 contest at United Supermarkets Arena. The Bearcats separated with a 14-1 run and maintained at least a 13-point advantage until the final three minutes.
Cincinnati had 20 offensive rebounds, which led to 17 second-chance points. That made up for a 37.7% shooting game, although the Bearcats made 7 of 18 (38.9%) from 3-point range.
Reagan Jackson led the Bearcats with 16 points. Jillian Hayes (15), A’riel Jackson (14) and Ta’Ziah Jenks (12) also reached double digits for Cincinnati, which snapped a four-game losing streak.
Tech shot 33.3%, including 24% from beyond the arc. Almost half (25 of 51) of the Lady Raiders‘ shot attempts were 3-pointers.
Bailey Maupin led Tech with 16 points and five rebounds. Jasmine Shavers followed with 10 points on 2 of 10 shooting in addition to five rebounds.
The Lady Raiders (16-13, 5-11 conference) face TCU in Fort Worth on Wednesday.
The Horned Frogs were 4-11 in conference entering a Saturday night game versus Houston.
