AUBURN — Despite four overtimes and a 21-point comeback, Texas A&M football suffered a heartbreaking loss Saturday at Auburn.
The loss puts the Aggies’ College Football Playoff hopes in grave danger ahead of a huge matchup next week against Texas.
The Aggies fell behind early then roared back for their first lead of the game with four minutes left, 31-28. But Auburn’s offense reignited on its final drive of the fourth quarter to send the game to overtime.

A&M responded with some trickeration, as Reed motioned out wide then cycles back into the backfield post-snap to take a backward pitch from Terry Bussey. As Reed rolled to his right, he found Amari Daniels in the end zone, but the running back dropped the pass as Auburn fans and players descended into celebration.
It erased what was an impressed comeback from Reed and Co., who scored 10 points over 10 minutes in the fourth after struggling for most of the second and third quarters.

The Aggies won the toss to start the game and deferred to the second half, putting their defense on the field first. The Tigers then marched down the field for a 10-play drive that was capped by a 2-yard touchdown run by running back Jarquez Hunter.
