South Dakota women’s basketball team took sole control of fourth place in the Summit League with a 75-61 win over St. Thomas on Saturday night.
The Coyotes (18-9, 7-5) pulled away in the third quarter when they held the Tommies to just 25% from the field and outscored St. Thomas (14-12, 6-6) by seven points. USD took a comfortable 10-point lead into the fourth quarter and built on it.
South Dakota put forth a total team effort on offense. Kendall Holmes led the team in scoring with 15 points, but the Coyotes had four players in double figures, including Grace Larkins, Tori DePerry and Carley Duffney, and they had a few more who were close.
Jade Hill was the leading scorer for the Tommies and a tough cover for the USD defense. She ended the night with a game-high 22 points on 8-of-18 shooting.
