South Carolina women’s basketball live score updates vs Alabama: Dawn Staley seeks 600th win

by

South Carolina women’s basketball looks to break what, by coach Dawn Staley’s standards, has been a rough stretch of performances when it faces Alabama on Thursday (7 p.m. ET, SEC Network) at Colonial Life Arena.

The No. 1 Gamecocks (25-0, 12-0 SEC) have fought back from halftime deficits in their last two games to remain undefeated. Despite the struggles, South Carolina has a chance to cross off some major accomplishments against the Crimson Tide (20-7, 7-5).

A win Thursday would clinch a share of the SEC championship and the No. 1 seed in the SEC Tournament with three games to go in the regular season. It would also give Staley the 600th victory of her career.

The Gamecocks haven’t lost to the Crimson Tide since Staley took over in 2008, notching a 21-0 record. The all-time series advantage also goes to South Carolina, which leads 31-15.

Alabama has won five of its last six games, with its only loss coming to LSU in Baton Rouge. Senior guard Sarah Ashlee Barker is averaging 17 points with 6.2 rebounds to lead the Crimson Tide, while senior guard Aaliyah Nye is averaging 14.6 points.
