Sarah Sjostrom Clocks Swift Time to Claim 50 Freestyle Title at Stockholm Open

Coming off the latest sub-25 performance of her career in the 50-meter butterfly, Sweden’s Sarah Sjostrom continued to excel at the Stockholm Open on Sunday. Competing in the 50 freestyle, where she is the world-record holder, Sjostrom cruised to victory in 24.05. That effort handed Sjostrom a dominant triumph over runnerup Valerie Roon (Netherlands), who posted a time of 24.90.

Sjostrom’s preparation for this summer’s Olympic Games in Paris is clearly progressing smoothly, she also checked in with a 24.08 swim during the prelims of the event. Sjostrom has won the 50 freestyle at the last three editions of the World Championships and holds the global standard in the event at 23.61.
