Reagan Bass helps Akron Zips rally past Eastern Michigan in OT in MAC women’s basketball

Reagan Bass made the second of two free throws with five seconds to play in overtime and visiting Akron survived a 3-point attempt at the buzzer to beat Eastern Michigan 68-67 in Mid-American Conference women’s basketball Wednesday night.

Zips freshman Teneisha Clarke forced overtime with a short jumper with 18 seconds left in regulation. Akron (8-13,3-8) held the Eagles (5-16,2-9) scoreless for the final 3:05 of the fourth quarter.

Bass, a 6-foot-1 junior forward from Strongsville, led the Zips with 19 points. Morgan Haney added 12 points, Zakia Rasheed had 11 points and Lanae Riley contributed eight rebounds for UA, which trailed 45-35 late in the third quarter before using a 9-0 run to close within a point heading into the final quarter.

Tayra Eke scored 17 points to lead four EMU players in double figures.
