The 2024 Big Ten Women’s Swimming and Diving Championships continued on Friday from Purdue University in West Lafayette, Ind., with the Day 3 finals.
The Day 3 events are the 100 butterfly, 400 IM, 200 freestyle, 100 breaststroke, 100 backstroke.
Big Ten Women’s 100 Butterfly
Seven of the eight finalists in the women’s 100 butterfly are either Michigan or Ohio State swimmers in the biggest even for the rivalry.
Michigan junior Natalie Kan took the top seed with a prelims swim of 51.97. Other Wolverines in the final are Brady Kendall, who took the fourth seed in 52.04, and Anna Boemer, who took the seventh seed in 53.05.
Ohio State grad student Morgan Kraus, a Michigan native, and teammate Katherine Zenick, tied for the second seed in 52.00.
OSU seniors Tristan Harrison (52.70) and Catherine Russo (53.93), took the fifth and sixth seeds, respectively.
The only non Michigan-Ohio State swimmer to make the final was Minnesota freshman Claire Reinke, who took the eighth seed in 53.23.

Big Ten Women’s 400 IM
A school other than Michigan and Ohio State took the top seed in the 400 IM, though there were four Buckeyes and one Wolverine to make the final.
Indiana senior Anna Freed took the top seed in 4:08.37 ahead of Minnesota senior Megan Van Berkom (4:09.17), Wisconsin senior Callahan Dunn (4:10.30) and Michigan senior Kathryn Ackerman (4:10.45).
The top four were seniors and the bottom four are Buckeyes, led by Jessica Eden (4:11.52), Krista Marlin (4:11.62), Mia Rankin (4:11.65) and Kyra Sommerstad (4:11.98).

Indiana took its second consecutive top seed as junior Anna Peplowski got to the wall first in the 200 free. She finished in 1:43.90.
Wisconsin junior Abby Carlson was just behind in 1:44.09, ahead of Michigan freshman Stephanie Balduccini (1:44.85).
Ohio State grad student Amy Fulmer took the fourth spot for the Buckeyes (1:45.00), followed by Northwestern grad student Ayla Spitz (1:45.04).

Grad students Josephine Panitz (53.86) and Hannah Bach (58.54) took the top seeds for Ohio State in the event.

Indiana junior Kacey McKenna took the top seed by one hundredth of a second heading into finals.
McKenna got to the wall in 51.53, while Wisconsin senior Phoebe Bacon was just behind in 51.54.
Ohio State took the next three spots with Nyah Funderburke (51.66), Morgan Kraus (52.31) in her double, and Tristan Harrison, also in a double, (52.37).
