No. 3-ranked Notre Dame women’s basketball travels to Chapel Hill, N.C., Sunday afternoon to take on No. 17 North Carolina at Carmichael Arena.
The Irish are 11-2 and 2-0 in the Atlantic Coast Conference while the Tar Heels are 13-2 and 1-1.
North Carolina has had Notre Dame’s number of late, winning the last two meetings while the Irish have not won in Chapel Hill since 2017. The Tar Heels held Notre Dame to under 60 points in 2023 and 2024.

This year’s Notre Dame squad is averaging 89.3 points per game, leads the nation in 3-point shooting (42.9 percent) and leadS the ACC with 49.4 percent shooting from the floor overall.
The Irish have four players averaging in double figures, led by sophomore guard Hannah Hidalgo (26.0), grad guard Olivia Miles (16.7), senior guard Sonia Citron (14.7) and grad transfer Liatu King (12.8).
Could this game also mark the return of grad senior Maddy Westbeld? Westbeld has been sitting out nursing a foot injury on which she had pre-season surgery, but has said she may return during ACC play.
North Carolina’s two losses are to top-15 teams (Connecticut and Georgia Tech).
