NC State’s Kacper Stokowski, Katharine Berkoff Sweep ACC Weekly Honors
NC State’s Kacper Stokowski and Katharine Berkoff swept the ACC Weekly Honors, announced Tuesday by the conference.
Joining the two Wolfpack veterans are North Carolina diver Aranza Vazquez Montano and Georgia Tech’s Max Fowler.
Stokowski led NC State to a win over Texas. The graduate student from Poland set a pool record in the 100 backstroke at 44.37 seconds. He also notched a best time of 1:32.91 in the 200 free and set a season-best split time of 21.54 that led off the 200 medley relay. Stokowski repeats as men’s swimmer of the week.
Berkoff, a grad student from Montana, downed the pool record in the 100 back in 49.82 seconds, the second fastest time every recorded in a dual meet. She anchored NC State’s winning 400 free relay in its dual meet with Texas and swam on second-place 200 medley and 200 free relays.
Fowler is the ACC Men’s Diver of the Week for the fourth time this season. The freshman swept the springboard events in a dual meet with South Carolina. He scored 414.90 points on 3-meter and broke the school record on 1-meter with a tally of 407.25 points.
Vazquez Montano is the ACC Women’s Diver of the Week for the sixth time this season. The UNC senior helped the Tar Heels down in-state rival Duke in a dual meet. The Mexican international contributed a score of 349.95 to win 1-meter and 368.78 to capture top honors in 3-meter. She’s swept the diving events in five of six dual meets this season.
