Per a report from Sportsnet NHL insider Elliotte Friedman, the Nashville Predators placed defenseman Marc Del Gaizo on waivers Wednesday.
Presumably, Nashville intends for Del Gaizo to be assigned to the AHL’s Milwaukee Admirals after he clears waivers.
Del Gaizo played in each of the Predators’ last four games, in which he racked up nine hits and five blocked shots while averaging 17:10 of ice time. He found his way back into the lineup after being a healthy scratch for multiple games due to a number of injuries on Nashville’s blue line.
Del Gaizo landing on waivers appears to indicate that at least one of the Predators’ three injured defensemen will be back in the lineup for Thursday’s home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Alexandre Carrier (upper-body) and Jeremy Lauzon (lower-body) have been placed on injured reserve, while team captain Roman Josi (lower-body) is listed as day-to-day, but all three have been progressing in their recovery and participating in on-ice activities over the past several days.
The Predators continue their four-game homestand Thursday, when they host the Penguins at Bridgestone Arena. The puck drops at 7 p.m. CT, and the game will be broadcast regionally on FanDuel Sports Network South and on ESPN+ for out-of-market customers in the United States.
