The Mets have made another depth signing, inking catcher Chris Williams to a minor league deal, per Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic.
Williams, 28, has hit .227/.344/.464 with 95 home runs and 76 doubles in 481 games over six minor league seasons.
He spent the 2024 campaign with the Twins’ Triple-A affiliate in St. Paul, slashing .221/.339/.461 with 17 homers in 88 games.
Williams will add to the Mets’ minor league depth at catcher and serve as possible insurance for big league starter Francisco Alvarez and expected backup Luis Torrens.
Earlier this week, the Mets signed infielder Jared Young to a one-year split contract and came to terms with left-handed pitcher Brandon Waddell on a minor league deal.
