Memphis women’s basketball has quite the mountain to climb on Wednesday night.
The Tigers (2-7) will host Tennessee (8-0) on Wednesday at FedExForum. The Lady Vols are massive favorites and are off to a flying start under first-year coach Kim Caldwell.
This will be the first of two consecutive games at FedExForum for Alex Simmons’ Tigers. Memphis will host Louisville on Saturday.
Tennessee is the most daunting opponent on the Tigers’ regular-season schedule, but Memphis did face South Carolina in an exhibition game.
And there is at least one reason for optimism if you’re a Memphis fan. Star transfer guard DeeDee Hagemann, who has been out all season with an academic issue, could make her debut on Wednesday.
