LSU women’s basketball matchup vs South Carolina delayed due to inclement weather

by

The much-anticipated matchup between LSU women’s basketball and South Carolina will be played one day later than expected.

The SEC announced the game between the two women’s college basketball powerhouses would be pushed back from 7 p.m. Thursday to Friday at 4 p.m. CT, still in Colonial Life Arena in Columbia, South Carolina, due to travel issues brought on by Winter Storm Enzo.

The game will still be broadcast on ESPN, but the “College GameDay” broadcast will no longer be a part of the matchup coverage.

According to the National Weather Service, Baton Rogue received eight inches of snow on Tuesday, hurting potential travel around the state.

According to the SEC, Texas and Tennessee will now be played on the ESPN broadcast at 8 p.m., the same time the Tigers and Gamecocks were initially scheduled to play.

LSU and South Carolina enter Friday as two of the three remaining unbeaten teams in SEC play. The Tigers (20-0, 5-0 SEC) have not lost yet and are coming off an 80-63 win over Florida on Sunday. The Gamecocks (18-1, 6-0) have won 13 in a row since an early season upset loss to now-No. 1 UCLA.

LSU coach Kim Mulkey is 2-5 against Dawn Staley and South Carolina in her career, but she has never beaten the Gamecocks as the Tigers’ coach.
