Lady Tigers race past Boyd

Nov. 29—WATERTOWN — Through two games of Brenna Price’s tenure as head coach, things on the court couldn’t be going much better for Watertown, which raced past visiting Boyd Christian 66-26 Monday night.

The Lady Purple Tigers led 14-9 at the first-quarter break, 31-16 at halftime and 53-24 going into the fourth as they improved to 2-0.

“We’ve got a lot of energy and when I took over, I said ‘We’re going to play hard every night’ and they’ve done that this summer and they’ve done that the first two games,” Price said. “I told them at halftime we’ve got to find the X. We were taking some shots that I didn’t love out of our offense. The second half, I feel like we found our X.”

Macie Brelje threw in 31 points and Darley Hight 19 as each hit three 3-pointers for the Lady Purple Tigers. Molly Followill and Julianna Pruitt each put in seven and Izzie Burns two.

“That’s not just a testament to (Brelje), that’s a testament to everybody getting her the ball, running the floor, sticking to what we want to do,” said Price, who has no seniors. She started three juniors, a freshman and a sophomore. Another sophomore and junior get good minutes off the bench.

“I’m excited,” Price said. “They’ve bought into what we’re trying to do. They’re playing hard for us. They’re executing. We’re having a lot of fun.

No one scored in double figures for Boyd.
