Ireland to host New Zealand, Argentina, Fiji and Australia in autumn games

New Zealand were victorious when the two sides last met in the World Cup quarter-final in Paris last October

Ireland will face New Zealand and Australia in their autumn series before head coach Andy Farrell takes his leave of absence to lead the British and Irish Lions.

The Irish will face the All Blacks on Friday 8 November before taking on Argentina seven days later.

Fiji will be Ireland’s opposition on 23 November before the contest against the Wallabies on 30 November.

Former Ireland coach Joe Schmidt is now in charge of Australia.

The Wallabies game will also celebrate the 150th anniversary of Irish rugby.

Schmidt will then lock horns with Farrell again next summer when the British and Irish Lions tour Australia.

“We look forward to testing ourselves against some of the most exciting teams in the world, with whom Ireland has such strong traditions and rivalries,” Farrell said on the announcement of Ireland’s autumn fixtures.

The opener against New Zealand will be the first meeting between the sides since the All Blacks’ 28-24 victory in last October’s World Cup quarter-final in Paris.

Ireland have won the last two meetings between the teams on Irish soil and clinched a famous first series triumph in New Zealand in 2022.
