Georgia inside linebacker C.J. Allen (33) and Georgia defensive back Justyn Rhett (9) tackle Georgia wide receiver Mekhi Mews (87) during the UGA G-Day spring football game at Sanford Stadium in Athens, Ga., on Saturday, April 15, 2023. Red won 31-26. News Joshua L Jones

Nebraska football landed a commitment from former Georgia Bulldogs safety Justyn Rhett on Saturday. The announcement was made on X.

As a recruit, Rhett was the 40th overall corner in the 2023 class and the third overall player in his class from the state of Nevada. He was the 355th overall player nationally, per the On3 recruiting rankings. The safety will have three years of eligibility remaining and measures in at six-foot-one, 205 pounds.

In 2024, he appeared in the season opener against the Clemson Tigers and in the home opener against Tennessee Tech. He recorded a tackle in each game. Rhett was a star for Bishop Gorman at the high school level and was selected to play in the Under Armour All-America game in 2022.

The Huskers currently have eight transfer commitments in the 2025 class. This is their second one in as many days as they were able to land former Purdue quarterback Marcos Davila on Friday.

Rhett certainly provides intrigue, as his size and athleticism add depth to the safety room. His SEC background and experience will be a welcome addition to what is going to be a young defensive unit, particularly at the safety position.
