How to watch FSU women’s basketball at Wake Forest
Who: Florida State (17-8, 8-5 ACC) at Wake Forest (4-20, 0-12)
When/Where: Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum, Winston-Salem, NC
TV/Radio: ACCNX/101.5 FM
3-pointers: The Seminoles recently had their three-game winning streak snapped in a double-overtime loss to Notre Dame, 98-94, on Sunday. It was a game where FSU shot an impressive 50% from the field but was limited by its ability to hold onto the ball as it turned it over 24 times to the Irish’s 11. This led to 23 points off of turnovers by Notre Dame…Ta’Niya Latson was one point shy of tying her career-high against the Irish, throwing down 34 points in the loss. She shot 14-of-15 from the field and 4-of-5 from 3-point range. This is the sixth time this season that Latson has downed 30 points or more in a game…The Seminoles are still looking for production beyond its group of four of Latson, O’Mariah Gordon, Sara Bejedi and Makayla Timpson. Against Notre Dame, those four players scored 86 of FSU’s 94 points. Brianna Turange, Sakyia White, Alexis Tucker and Amaya Bonner all combined for eight points, all of which came from Bonner.
What FSU needs to do to win: This game should not be as hard-pressed for FSU as the Notre Dame game. Wake Forest has lost 12 straight games and has not defeated a Power 6 opponent this entire season. The Seminoles already have a win over the Demon Deacons this season, defeating them 73-61 at home on Dec. 31…Wake Forest has struggled to score all season as it is only averaging 59 points per game. Its leading scorer, Elise Williams, is averaging only 11 points a game…FSU will need to clean up the turnovers in this game as it could get very sloppy if it doesn’t. The Demon Deacons are averaging 15.6 turnovers per game, which is four less than the Seminoles’ 11.9 per game.
