There’s one sure-fire way for basketball players to etch their names into their school’s record books and high-school sports immortality: scoring 1,000 points.
One of high school hoops’ most desirable milestones has been achieved more than a dozen times already in Northern Kentucky this season. The Enquirer brings you a list of players who have surpassed 1,000 career points this season:
Lilly Ashcraft, Pendleton County
Ashcraft, who once scored 71 points in a single half as a freshman, passed the 1,000-point mark on Dec. 9, 2024, scoring 23 points in a 65-60 loss to Mason County. The LadyCats are 7-9 so far this season, and Ashcraft is leading the way with 12.1 points per game.
Spencer Brandenburg, Ludlow
It didn’t take long for Brandenburg to surpass the 1,000-point milestone this season. He did it in the Panthers’ second game of the year, scoring 29 points. This season for Ludlow, which is currently 11-7, Brandenburg is averaging 17.4 points per game.
Jayda Dowell, Bellevue
Jayda beat her sister, Jaylah, both of whom are seniors, to the 1,000-point mark by three days, surpassing it when she scored 10 points in the Tigers’ 51-27 win over Dayton on Dec. 9. This season, she’s averaging 10.7 points per game for the 10-8 Tigers.
Jaylah Dowell, Bellevue
Jaylah couldn’t let her sister bask in the limelight for too long, and she grabbed the spotlight three days after Jayda broke the 1,000-point mark by breaking it herself on Dec. 9, scoring 16 points in Bellevue’s 50-37 win over Dayton.
Caroline Eaglin, Newport Central Catholic
Eaglin has long been past the 1,000-point mark for her career, but she reached 2,000 career points this season on Dec. 26 against Gatlinburg-Pittman from Tennessee. She scored 24 points in the loss and is currently averaging 21.6 points per game for the Thoroughbreds, who are 10-10 so far. Eaglin is committed to continuing her basketball career at Northern Kentucky University next season.
Addy Garrett, Ludlow
Garrett, a junior, scored her 1,000th point in Ludlow’s second game of this season, on Dec. 6 in a loss to Dayton. She scored 14 points in that game, and on the season, she’s averaging 20.6 points per game for the 8-9 Panthers.
Cash Harney, Covington Catholic
Harney entered Covington Catholic’s Jan. 14 game against Holmes with 999 career points and scored eight points in an 80-35 win. On the season, he’s averaging 15.7 points per game and shooting nearly 50% from the field for the 14-3 Colonels.
Isabella Jayasuriya, Campbell County
Jayasuriya, a junior, eclipsed the 1,000-point mark on Jan. 18 in a 68-51 Camel victory over Grant County. She scored 20 points that game, just above her season average of 15.4 points per game for the 10-4 Camels.
Elin Logue, Walton-Verona
Just a sophomore, Logue broke the 1,000-point mark on Jan. 14 in a Bearcat win over Gallatin County. This season, Logue leads Walton-Verona with 15.4 points per game, helping her team to a 12-6 record so far.
Landon Lorms, Ryle
Lorms and Ian Mann of Newport Central Catholic broke the 1,000-point mark in the same game when Ryle and the Thoroughbreds squared off in an 80-57 Raider victory on Dec. 17. Lorms scored 17 points in that win. The two-sport star is averaging 20.4 points per game on the season for the 6-7 Raiders.
Ian Mann, Newport Central Catholic
As mentioned, Mann broke the 1,000-point mark on Dec. 17 in the same game as Lorms, dropping 21 points. He is averaging 17.9 points per game on better than 56% shooting for the Thoroughbreds, who are 8-10 so far this season.
Yamil Rondon, Newport
The transfer from Cooper eclipsed the 1,000 point-mark on Jan. 20 as Newport beat Bellevue 69-32. Rondon dropped 16 points in that game. So far this season, he’s averaging 14.0 points per game, missing all but four contests due to injury so far. The Wildcats are 10-7 in their first season without Taylen Kinney, the 14th-ranked prospect in the class of 2026. Kinney transferred to Overtime Elite this offseason.
Jack Sullivan, Beechwood
Sullivan, a senior, accomplished the 1,000-point feat on Jan. 18 in a 59-57 win over Newport. On the season, Sullivan leads the 11-5 Tigers with 17.5 points and 6.9 rebounds while shooting 56.4% from the floor and 48.3% from 3-point range.
